The Voluntary AI Safety Standard (VAISS) was issued by the Australian government in September 2024.​

 

The Australian AI Ethics Principles established the foundational values for the development and use of AI systems. VAISS provides practical guidance on how to implement these principles.

​VAISS includes 10 voluntary AI guardrails to help organisations navigate the complexities of AI development and deployment safely and responsibly.

 

 It is aligned to international standard ISO/IEC 42001:2023.​​​​
